The news Saturday was devastating, at least for anybody who was really jonesing to see Jax from "Sons of Anarchy" naked on the big screen.
Charlie Hunnam has dropped out of the "50 Shades of Grey" movie. But never fear ... The Pop Tarts have picked the Christian Grey they'd like to see!
The studio has said that Hunnam's TV schedule won't allow him to adequately prepare for the role, which is understandable - "Sons of Anarchy" is a hot commodity, and Hunnam's star is rising. He can afford to be picky, and I wonder if, apart from his schedule concerns, Hunnam also didn't want to be pigeonholed by the role and have to break free of it later. If he's been been paying attention to other stars of megapopular franchises - Robert Pattinson springs to mind - he'll see that it's hard to get free of that role.
Regardless of his reasoning, Hunnam is out and someone else is going to have to be hired to fill the role.
Now, Kel & I have already discussed what is necessary for the role of Christian Grey (despite the fact I couldn't get very far into the second book without rolling my eyes and giving up and Kel has never read any of the books - nothing stops us from having opinions!).
Here is a transcript of the text conversation we had:
Jen: Charlie Hunnam dropped out of 50 Shades of Grey! Nooooooooo!
Kel: They are going to have to work really hard to find someone I want to see in that role more.
Jen: I know!
Kel: I was trying to think of an actor who could play both fancy in a suit and filthy I am thinking Jon Hamm.
Jen: Oh. My gosh. Yes. Also Matt Bomer.
Kel: I have trouble believing that Bomber would be believably filthy enough. He's too nice.
Jen: True. Jon Hamm would be great. He is too old but I don't care!
Kel: Don't care. Want to see him naked!
So there you have it. The Pop Tarts' dream casting for Christian Grey: Jon Hamm!
Who would you like to see in the role?
Jamie Dornan has finally responded to rumors that he's a favorite to play this role in the 50 shades movie. But Charlie Hunnam is best at all time to see on screen.
